Guide for Creating the External Service Incident DataDog on the Elven Platform
The External Services Center of the Elven Platform is the bridge that connects you to the best tools on the market to monitor, manage, and resolve incidents in a simple and efficient way. Through it, we can integrate Datadog with the Elven Platform. This way, within the Elven Platform, we can receive alerts or events about incidents, allowing us to monitor and analyze your applications and services from the perspective of the platform’s Incident Management, using the best practices and methodologies available, all in one place.
API Token
To integrate the Elven Platform with Datadog, we need to create an API Token. This unique key is essential for the two platforms to connect securely, ensuring a reliable and authenticated exchange of information. Simply access the Organization Settings of the Elven Platform, navigate to the API section, and generate it.
Creating an API Token
In the top menu under your user settings, click Organization Settings.
In the API tab, click the + button to create a new API Token.
Accessing the External Services Incident Datadog
Navigate to the main menu and click Monitoring.
In the submenu, select the External Services item.
Click the + External Services button.
Select the Incident Datadog option.
Creating External Services Incident Datadog
In the form, start by filling in the External Service Name field, which will be the name of the external service, and define the Responders, meaning the people or teams who will receive notifications related to this service. After that, click CREATE to proceed. This action will create the initial record of your external service. Next, locate the API Token you generated earlier and select it to configure the integration with Datadog. Once configured, the service will appear in the External Services Monitoring Center, categorized by status, making it easier to monitor incidents, with priority given to those in an alarm state.
Configuring WebHooks in Datadog
To configure a webhook in Datadog, start by accessing the Integrations menu on the left-hand panel. Use the search bar to find webhooks and click the card that appears. This will take you to the webhook configuration page. Next, click the New button to create a new webhook. Fill in the required fields: enter a name to identify the webhook, add the destination URL where events will be sent, and configure the payload as needed. To finish, click Save and your configuration will be ready.
Tip: The URL and payload are provided on the configuration page of your External Service Datadog
