Insights Management Guide on the Elven Platform

The Insights Center complements the centralized information experience of the Elven Platform homepage by offering an even deeper, analysis-driven view for monitoring and decision-making. While the homepage consolidates essential information and metrics, the Insights Center expands this capability by enabling detailed exploration of critical data on operational performance and business impact. With a clear, accessible, and action-oriented interface, it empowers teams to identify trends, optimize processes, and strengthen operational resilience in a practical and strategic way.

Thus, this is more than just a data visualization tool; it is a strategic ally for transforming metrics into decisions that drive operational excellence. With usability-centered design, actionable insights, and real-time integration, your organization will be equipped to face challenges and continuously evolve.

Accessing the Insights Center

  • Navigate to the main menu and click on Insights.

  • In the submenu, select any item, such as Incidents. You will be taken to an intuitive interface that centrally gathers all critical data on operational performance and business impact. From there, you can easily navigate between sections like Incidents, Alerts, Responders, Monitoring Performance, Business Impact, and Real-time Explorer, accessing valuable insights in a fluid and organized way.

Highlights of the Insights Center

  • Integrated Views: We consolidate relevant data on incident management, response team performance, monitoring effectiveness, DevOps metrics, and business impact into a single space. This provides a holistic view for quick analysis and intervention.

  • User Experience (UX)-Focused Design: Each section is designed to facilitate data interpretation and interaction, using elements such as charts, tables, and heatmaps, combined with actionable recommendations.

  • Proactive and Reactive Analysis: Real-time and historical tools enable both the mitigation of emerging issues and learning from past events to reduce future risks.

  • Informed Decision-Making: Visualizations and key indicators help teams prioritize efforts based on impact, urgency, and actionable insights, promoting efficiency and results-focused strategies.

Main Features

  • Incidents Provides a detailed overview of recorded incidents, performance metrics, and severity analysis. Tools such as trend charts help identify critical patterns.

  • Alerts Provides a detailed overview of recorded alerts, performance metrics, and severity analysis. Tools such as trend charts help identify critical patterns.

  • Responders Tracks the performance of response teams, including average response time, incident volume handled, and individual or team effectiveness.

  • Monitoring Performance Evaluates the effectiveness of monitoring systems, analyzing generated alerts, system uptime, and average time to detect issues.

  • Business Impact Maps the operational and financial impact caused by incidents, allowing prioritization of fixes in critical areas with higher loss potential.

  • Real-time Explorer A dynamic tool that provides a live view of system status, active alerts, and immediate user impact, enabling quick and effective actions.

Filters

In addition to the benefits already highlighted in the Insights module, the filters available in each feature have been carefully designed to provide a highly personalized and usability-centered experience. These filters allow teams to tailor data visualization and analysis according to their specific needs, ensuring full control over information and decision-making.

  • Incidents, Alerts, and Responders: filters such as Date Range, Severity, Origin, Time Class, (M)TTA (min), and (M)TTR (min) help monitor events and performance with precision.

  • Monitoring Performance: filters like Checkpoint, Resource, Start Date, and End Date enable focused analysis of specific system performance within defined periods.

  • Business Impact: options such as Estimated Costs, Origin, and Date Range help map the financial and operational impact of incidents in detail.

  • Real-time Explorer: advanced filters like Type, Resource Name, Correlation Event ID, Single Date, and Hour Range allow for instant and proactive real-time event analysis.

These filters make the Insights module a powerful and flexible tool, capable of transforming complex data into actionable insights. With intuitive interfaces and dynamic adjustments, they offer smooth, user-centered navigation, promoting agility, accuracy, and efficiency across all aspects of operational analysis.

Benefits for Teams

  • Information Centralization: Consolidated data in one place, eliminating the need for scattered tools or reports.

  • Visual Monitoring: Intuitive charts and interactive dashboards make analysis easier, even for non-technical users.

  • Process Optimization: Action-oriented insights help reduce response time, minimize errors, and increase team effectiveness.

  • Impact Reduction: Problem anticipation and strategic prioritization help avoid greater business losses.

Glossary of Technical Terms

Insights Center: Core module of the Elven Platform that provides in-depth analysis of operational and business data, supporting strategic decision-making and performance improvement.

Events: These are records of occurrences that may affect system functionality. They act as warning signals, helping to identify abnormal behavior. Initially, an event may appear as an alert, and when it confirms a real impact—such as a failure or interruption—it is treated as an incident. Continuously tracking these events is essential to prevent larger issues and ensure a quick and effective response from the team.

Incidents: Section that provides a detailed view of recorded incidents, including performance metrics and severity, using charts to identify critical patterns and recurring issues.

Alerts: Section that provides a detailed view of recorded alerts, including performance metrics and severity, using charts to identify critical patterns and recurring issues.

Responders: Module that tracks the performance of incident response teams, including average response time, incident volume handled, and the effectiveness of each member or team in managing issues.

Monitoring Performance: Evaluation of the effectiveness of monitoring systems, including analysis of generated alerts, system uptime, and the average time required to detect issues or failures.

Business Impact: Tool that maps the operational and financial impact caused by incidents, allowing prioritization of fixes in critical areas to avoid greater losses and minimize the impact on operations.

Real-time Explorer: A dynamic tool that offers a live view of system status, active alerts, and the immediate impact on users, enabling quick actions to mitigate issues while they are still occurring.

Filters: Customization tools that allow users to adjust data visualization and analysis according to specific needs. Examples include filters like Date Range, Severity, among others.

MTTA (Mean Time to Acknowledge): A metric that calculates the average time required to acknowledge or respond to an incident after it occurs. It is used to measure the speed of response to issues.

MTTR (Mean Time to Resolve): A metric that calculates the average time required to resolve or mitigate an incident after it has been acknowledged. It is an important measure of problem-solving effectiveness and restoration time.
